PhiladelphiaDANCE
2005 – 2024
PhiladelphiaDANCE.org was established in 2005 as a resource and hub for dance related information, advocacy and service in the greater Philadelphia region. At the core of its mission is the expansion and development of new audiences for dance through education, marketing, outreach, networking and use of current technologies. PhiladelphiaDANCE.org seeks to promote to the public the wealth of dance experiences available in the region. In addition, PhiladelphiaDANCE.org strives to bring together resources and information required by dancers, dance companies, choreographers, dance writers, dance organizations, dance practitioners, audiences, media, philanthropists and policy makers. By facilitating collaboration between these entities, it is our hope to create an even stronger dance community and presence for dance and the arts in Philadelphia.

Artistic Director
Graffito Works
2014 – 2020
Graffito Works is a unique platform for dancers and performing artists to create site-specific work and to make it readily accessible to the public. Literally translated as “little scribbles” of movement, Graffito Works offers a non-traditional approach to creating dance – spontaneous, improvisational and collaborative, with a focus on the juxtaposition of bodies moving in space and their inter-relationship with sounds, objects and place.
Work is created in non-traditional spaces, challenging artists to push the boundaries of their craft, while making their work relevant and accessible to a wider audience. The essence of Graffito Works is the exploration of the kinaesthetic possibilities of bodies moving through a given space in time. It examines the relationship of the physical laws that govern their motion—gravity, momentum, inertia. It is an evolving system of movement whose strength lies in the collaboration among dancers as well as with other performing artists, musicians, visual artists and communities. Graffito Works offers audiences an opportunity to experience a transient moment of improvisational dance, which is specific to the place and context in which the movement is created.
